Youth Mission TripThe Bureau of Indian Affairs estimates the unemployment rate is 69% among registered members of the Blackfeet Nation tribe. The mission site is located in the reservation community of Heart Butte, a town of about 582 residents. In Heart Butte, nearly 45% of the population lives below the poverty line, including 50% of those under age 18. While tribal members struggle to maintain their livelihood, our service to and respect for the Blackfeet Nation will most certainly lift their spirits and open our eyes to these wonderful people. Donate to the Youth Mission Trip: We serve in a variety of ways during a mission trip. Mission service involves painting and repairing building for residents of the reservation and working with their children. We will create and maintain a “Kids Club” for children of the reservation teaching high-energy games, crafts, skits, and songs. The children will be taught about Jesus’ love for all people and volunteers will be able to talk about their faith and how it motivates them to help others.
Becca (front, right) has been on five previous mission trips. She is a senior at Morton West High School and will be attending UIC in the fall. “I look forward to mission trips each year. No matter what has been going on in my life, I look forward to focusing on serving the needs of others. It helps keeps everyday problems in perspective! I have also enjoyed seeing our beautiful country and meeting other teens from other cities. I am looking forward to taking the train to Big Sky country and serving others in Christ’s name.” Note: Look for the next picture which will be of the rest of our group; there are four more volunteers going on this mission trip. |
